Getting In

Singapore is one of Southeast Asia's largest aviation hubs, so unless you're coming from Peninsular Malaysia or Batam/Bintan in Indonesia, the easiest way to enter Singapore is by air. In addition to flag-carrier Singapore Airlines and its regional subsidiary SilkAir, Singapore is also home to low-cost carriers Tiger Airways, Jetstar Asia and Scoot.

Visa

Most nationalities can enter Singapore without a visa. Refer to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority website for current guidelines, including a list of the 30+ nationalities that are required to obtain a visa in advance.

Customs

Please note that Singapore has very strict drug laws, and drug trafficking carries very severe sentences — which are applied to everyone, including foreigners. Singapore also does not have any duty-free concession for Liquor Products, Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products. Refer to the Customs website for more information on what you can bring in.

Hotel and Guesthouse Options

$

There are plenty of guesthouses and rooms to rent in Sentosa and near the CBD area. We suggest checking out AirBnB for options.

Alternative options include Backpacker Hostels or Budget Hotel chain Hotel81. Please note that some of the Hotel81 properties are located in less desirable areas so, do check out the location before booking.

$$

Mid-range accommodation options are available both within Sentosa and the main Singapore island. Some 3 star hotel groups we recommend include Mercure, Ibis, Novotel, Holiday Inn Express and Santa Grand.

Check out prices and availability at the various aggregator sites like Agoda and Expedia.

$$$

Guests who are looking for 5 star, luxurious accommodations may opt to stay at Marina Bay Sands or at the Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa.

We have rooms blocked off for wedding guests (maximum of 10, first-come-first-served-basis). Mention the Assinder–Cordova wedding when you book to get the group discount.

Singapore, is a city-state in Southeast Asia. Combining the skyscrapers and subways of a modern, affluent city with a medley of Chinese, Malay and Indian influences and a tropical climate, with tasty food, good shopping and a vibrant night-life scene, this Garden City makes a great stopover or springboard into the region. Here's a small sampling of the things you can do in the area.

Eat

Dining in Singapore is an essential aspect of the state's unique culture. The top destinations for food lovers are the legendary hawker centres, open-air food courts that offer traditional Indian, Chinese, or Malay food at reasonable prices. Some dishes we recommend include: Chicken Rice, Laksa, Bak kut teh, Chilli Crab, Kaya Toast, Roti Prata, and Rendang.

Singapore also has plenty of Celebrity Chef Restaurants, including BreadStreet Kichen by Gordon Ramsey, Cut by Wolfgang Puck, Esquina by Jason Atherton, db Bistro Moderne by Daniel Boulud, Osteria Mozza by Mario Batali, among many others.

Drink

Be prepared for a bit of a shock as alcohol in Singapore can be rather expensive. Prices will vary but S$15 for a pint of beer is normal and a bare minimum is about S$5, excluding taxes. There are lots of ‘happy hours’ though so just keep your eyes and ears open.

Check out the watering holes in Clarke Quay, Boat Quay or Club Street or head on over to the local microbreweries such as Level 33 or Brewerkz which sell home-made brew at reasonable prices. We also recommend having a drink or two at rooftop bars C'est La Vie, 1-Altitude, Kinki's or New Asia Bar for a beautiful sunset or evening view of Singapore's skyline.

Nature, Art & Culture

If Nature is your thing, we recommend a visit to the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a 156 year old tropical garden which has just recently been honoured as a UNESCO World Heritage Site or to the Gardens by the Bay, Singapore's premier urban outdoor recreation space, and a national icon known for its Flower Dome, Cloud Forest and Supertrees.

Art aficionados can indulge in both local and international masterpieces at the National Gallery Singapore or the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) for contemporary art exhibitions.

Family Fun

As an international hub, recreational facilities are aplenty in Singapore. Family friendly activities include immersing in education at the Science Centre Singapore or getting up-close with the animal kingdom at the Singapore Zoo, River Safari, Jurong Bird Park or Night Safari.

Sentosa also offers plenty of attractions such as the Cable Car ride, Underwater World, Dolphin Lagoon and Butterfly Kingdom. It also houses the Resorts World Sentosa, which houses the Universal Studios Amusement Park, Trick Eye Museum, SEA Aquarium, and many more.
